Description
TagMatiks 06D - Tool & Instrument RFID Tag
The TagMatiks Tool & Instrument RFID Tags are designed for customers tag assets, especially tools and instruments are typically harder to tag given their format factor and typically use. The TagMatiks Tool and Instrument RFID Tags are attached using field-applied epoxy.
Typical Applications
- Tools
- Instruments
- Electrical Parts
- Manufacturing Assets
The TagMatiks Tool & Instrument RFID Tags are designed to be used in conjunction with TagMatiks Asset Tracking (AT) and TagMatiks Asset Tracking Lite (AT Lite)
TagMatiks AT and AT Lite include workflows to automate the management and tracking of tools and instruments using RFID technology.
The tags are less than 2mm (0.07”) in width and height, so they blend almost seamlessly onto the contours of instruments, tools, weapons and metrology equipment. These tags are also resistant to a very wide range of chemicals, and have an ingress protection rating of IP 68. These tags can easily be adapted for applications involving overmolding/overspraying or embedding in metal.
They require customer supplied epoxy for attaching to the instruments. JB Weld epoxies are usually good for an application like this. Surface prep is super important to get a good bond, clean the surface with alcohol and dry thoroughly.
Operating Temperature: -50° C to 85° C (-58° F to 185° F)
Temperature Tolerance: -50° C to 185° C (-58° F to 365° F)
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Tool RFID Tag?
A Tool RFID Tag is a small, durable tag attached to tools for tracking and managing tracking. It uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to capture data about the tool's location, usage, and maintenance.
What are the key features of Tool RFID Tags?
Key features of Tool RFID Tags include:
- Durability: Built to withstand harsh conditions.
- RFID Technology: Utilizes RFID for automatic data capture.
- Versatility: Suitable for a range of tools.
- Data Storage: Stores information such as tool ID, location, and maintenance history.
- Read Range: Effective over varying distances, depending on the RFID system used.
How do tool RFID tags work for asset management?
Tool RFID Tags work by being scanned with an RFID reader. The tag transmits data to the reader, which then updates the asset management system with information on the tool’s status, location, and usage, allowing for efficient tracking and management.
How are tool RFID tags installed on tools?
Tool RFID Tags are installed using adhesive backing, mounting brackets, or embedded directly into the tool during manufacturing. Installation methods ensure the tags remain securely attached in various environments.
What are the typical applications for tool RFID tags?
Typical applications for Tool RFID Tags include:
- Tool Tracking: Manage and locate tools in workshops and construction sites.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of tool availability and usage.
- Maintenance Scheduling: Schedule and record tool maintenance.
- Loss Prevention: Reduce tool loss and theft.
- Asset Management: Monitor and manage tool assets in large facilities.

What is an instrument RFID tag?
An Instrument RFID Tag are tags used to track and manage instruments through RFID technology. It provides data on the instrument's usage, location, and maintenance.
What are the key features of instrument RFID tags?
Key features of Instrument RFID Tags include:
- Durability: Designed to endure tough conditions.
- RFID Technology: Enables automated data capture and retrieval.
- Precision: Accurate tracking of instrument details.
- Versatility: Suitable for various instruments.
- Data Storage: Records instrument ID, maintenance history, and usage details.
How do instrument RFID tags work for asset tracking?
Instrument RFID tags work by emitting a signal to an RFID reader. The reader captures this signal, which is then used to update the asset tracking system with the instrument’s location, status, and maintenance records.
What are the common applications for instrument RFID tags?
Common applications for instrument RFID tags include:
- Asset Tracking: Track and manage instruments in laboratories and medical facilities.
- Inventory Management: Monitor instrument availability and location.
- Maintenance Tracking: Schedule and document instrument maintenance.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure instruments meet industry standards and regulations.
- Operational Efficiency: Improve instrument management processes.
