Description
Times-7’s new True NearField Antenna
The A1163 is the largest antenna in the Times-7’s new True NearField Antenna Series as well as the largest NearField RFID antenna on the market, with a surface of 300 x 600 mm at just 8.6 mm height.
Times-7 True NearField antennas are explicitly designed for applications that require “near zone only” tag detection or involve metals, liquids, or any other challenging materials. With hardly any far-field components and no surface dead spots, the Times-7 True NearField antennas provide reliable tag reads within a very constricted read zone.
Thanks to our unique antenna design, which scales easily in size, the True NearField antenna series offers three dimensions. If you require a smaller surface, please go to the A1130 (300 x 300 mm) or the A1115 for an even more compact size of just 150 x 150 mm.
For custom sizes, please contact sales. More info about our custom antenna design processes can be found here.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Times-7 A1163 antenna designed for?
The A1163 is specifically designed for true near-field UHF RFID applications where tag detection must be limited to close range, even in challenging environments like metal or liquids.
What is the typical read range of this antenna?
The A1163 is engineered for very short-range detection, providing highly localized reads with no far-field performance, making it ideal for precision tag reading.
What RFID applications is this antenna best suited for?
It excels in tag commissioning stations, pharmaceutical packaging, retail applications, liquid-filled containers, smart shelves and any application requiring tight zone control.
How does this antenna perform near metals or liquids?
Thanks to its true near-field design, the A1163 performs consistently and reliably around metals, liquids, and other RF-challenging materials.
What type of connector does it use?
The A1163 comes with an SMA female side fly lead (482 mm / RG316 cable) for easy connection to standard RFID readers.
Is the A1163 easy to install?
Yes, it includes integrated mounting holes on the back and optional rubber feet, making it flexible for desktop or embedded installation.
What is the maximum input power supported?
The antenna can handle up to 3 watts of input power, suitable for most near-field RFID reader configurations.
What frequency range does it support?
It operates in the 865–867 MHz range, compliant with ETSI standards for UHF RFID communication.
